Different Personality Models

There are different personality models which are popular. One such model is OCEAN personality model. In this model 5 basic personality traits are judged which decides what is your personality like. That is why this model is also called the big 5 model of personality.

To know about your personality on OCEAN model you need to take a OCEAN model personality test. 

Another popular model is  Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). As per this there are 16 different personality types based on combination of 4 personality traits. To know who you really are according to this model, you again need to take a personality test.

There is another simpler model which will help you to know your personality easily without taking any test. You can judge yourself by simply observing your action and reaction in different situations. This is DISC model.

DISC Model of Personality

This is a simple model to know your personality. This works of two axis. On one axis it is noted that are you a fast paced person or slow paced person. On the other axis it is noted are you task oriented or people oriented.

Depending on the combinations of these 4 traits  four different personality types are defined.

1. Dominant

2. Influencer

3. Supportive

4. Conscientious

Dominant Personality Trait

Persons having dominant personality are fast faced and task oriented. They are direct, decisive and risk taker in nature. They also have high ego and they are strong. For them bottom lines matter the most and they tend look at the big picture mostly and not much of details.

Their biggest strength of people having dominant personality trait may become their biggest weakness as well. These are the tendency to remain in authority and aggression. 

They are motivated by new challenges, opportunities to stay in power.

Influencer Personality Trait

People having influencer personality are also fast paced but they are people oriented. They are enthusiastic, optimistic and trust others. They like to influence others to get things done rather than force people to do things. 

They also look at the big picture more than the details and so can be impulsive to take decisions. People with influencer personality can be great motivators also. Their biggest strength is the people around them.  They enjoy popularity.

On the other hand  lack of popularity can be their biggest weakness and fear. They fear rejection.

Influencer personality people are motivated by popularity, acceptance and friendly environment.

Supportive Personality Trait

People having supportive personality are slow paced and people oriented. They are more of care giver type and put people first. They are good listener, understanding, friendly people. They are reliable, compliant towards authority. They are also empathetic.

Weakness of people having supportive personality are  that they are resistant to change. They take time to adjust to new environment. They also are sensitive to criticism and hold grudge. They fear loss of security.

People having supportive personality are motivated by recognition for loyalty, safety and security.

Conscientious Personality Trait

People having conscientious personality trait are slow paced and task oriented. They are more analytical and factfinder. They tend to do things more carefully, precisely and accurately than others.

They look into details rather than just looking into the big picture. They gather, criticizes  and tests information. They also look into different aspects of a situation.

Weakness of people having conscientious personality is that they need clear cut  boundaries for actions. They are more bound by procedures and methods. And their biggest fear is criticism.

People of conscientious personality are motivated by logical tasks and standards of high quality.

Combination of Personality Types

None of us are strictly bound to one of these personality traits. Rather we have one dominant personality type and 1 or more non dominant. Our most actions are determined by the dominant personality traits.
